Bridge Refugees | TIES

Bridge Refugee Services and Tennessee Immigrant Empowerment Solutions (TIES) are seeking funds to launch a driving and ridesharing program for refugees in Knoxville, with the intention of eliminating the transportation barrier to accessing jobs and opportunities as the pathway out of poverty. This program would include administering driving lessons and a course for the written portion of the driver’s exam. Clients who get a driver’s license through the program will also participate in a ridesharing program, providing rides to work for up to three others and thus multiplying the impact of the program. Bridge will be the primary organizer of this program, while TIES will develop and implement the curriculum for the written driver’s exam.
